Anacapri
Isle of Capri Italy
Anacapri, or Capri of above, just as they had nicknamed the Greeks. This beautiful village, which today is a town in itself, is an integral part of the island. Inhabited since Roman times, as witnessed by numerous remains, Anacapri reached its peak period between the nineteenth and twentieth century, when it became a "buen retiro" for artists from all over Europe, who came to spend a happy holiday and to find inspiration. In the area, called Capodimonte, was the gateway to the medieval Anacapri. This was indeed the end of the endless steps of the Scala Fenicia, the road connecting the Marina Grande di Capri and Anacapri. The spectacular staircase has Greek origin, and was built in part in sculpting the rock and partly by showing stone.
